The second book in the trilogy tells us more about the details in the story, and why the attack announced for the death of Brahaspati was a bit reckless and under-thought. Shiva realizes that there's a lot more going on which he's not able to see. He gets his own point of view regarding the Nagas, which was really very important. Everyone of us, who've read the book, had it in our heads that he mustn't just blindly believe the Sooryavanshis' take on the nagas, hadn't we?

A book review of THE SECRET OF THE NAGAS by every_thing_bookish

The story, in comparison with the previous book, is more detailed, and keeps you hooked. The identity of the Naga was really intriguing. The story has a lot going on, but the writing makes it easy to understand, marking, yet again, that Amish has great command over the narration.

What didn't work well

There are a few things which don't sit well with me, though. Some parts of the story are mentioned but not discussed further, so the reader is left in the dark. Some phrases have been chosen poorly, "You're a 180-year old virgin???" Don't expect this in the middle of a beautiful tale, do you? Last, I thought the secret of the Nagas was more of the secret of Shiva.

What I really enjoyed

What I loved was the way some characters have been developed. Anandamayi, for one, always kept me glued whenever she came up. I also loved how Amish uses the narration to put his points of view on life, from time to time. THE SECRET OF THE NAGAS sets up the next book in an awesome manner.

“The opposite of love is not hate. Hate is just love gone bad. The actual opposite of love is apathy. When you don't care a damn as to what happens to the other person.”

Read it already !!!!!
